Ushuru Sacco Membership Eligibility & Requirements

Ushuru Sacco, formerly known as Customs & Excise Workers (CUEW) Sacco, was established in 1970 and rebranded in 2002 to reflect its inclusive membership. With an asset base of Kshs 6.12 billion, it is among Kenya’s largest deposit-taking Saccos, offering diverse financial services to its members.


Membership Eligibility

Ushuru Sacco membership is open to all Kenyans, both residents and non-residents. To qualify, applicants must meet the following conditions:

  1. Be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Be an ordinary resident in Kenya.
  3. Have no criminal convictions involving fraud or dishonesty.
  4. Not be a member of any similar savings and credit cooperative society during their membership.
  5. Be part of the following categories:
    • Employees of Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
    • Employees of government ministries or any reputable private company or organisation.
    • Spouse of an existing Ushuru Sacco member.
  6. Not be directly or indirectly involved in money lending or activities detrimental to the Sacco’s objectives.
  7. Exhibit good character.

Membership Requirements

To join Ushuru Sacco, applicants must provide the following:

  1. A completed membership application form (available on the Sacco’s website or at its branches).
  2. A copy of a valid National ID.
  3. A passport-size photograph.
  4. Payment of:
    • Entrance fee: Kshs 1,000.
    • Share capital: Kshs 30,000.
    • Monthly savings: Kshs 3,000.
    • RMF monthly contribution: Kshs 300.
    • Rejoining fee (if applicable): Kshs 3,000.
