Physiotherapists practicing in Kenya are required to register and obtain licenses from the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya (PCK), as mandated by the Physiotherapist Act No. 20 of 2014. For Professionals Trained in Kenya

To practice physiotherapy in Kenya, professionals trained locally must meet the following requirements:

Eligibility and Process

  1. Complete training in an approved institution.
  2. Sit for and pass the prescribed national council examination.
  3. Submit completed registration and licensing application forms online within 30 days of results release.

Registration Requirements

  • Academic Qualification: Must have a minimum aggregate of C plain in KCSE or its equivalent.
  • Required Documents:
    1. Original copy of ID or Passport.
    2. Two coloured passport-size photographs.
    3. Certified copies of professional and academic certificates.
    4. Proof of passing the council’s pre-registration examination.
    5. Evidence of inclusion in the list submitted by deans of accredited physiotherapy training schools.
    6. Fully filled, stamped, and signed internship completion assessment form.
    7. Proof of payment of registration fees.

Timeline

  • Registration certificates are issued within 30 days.
  • Practice licenses are issued within 48 hours after approval.

For Professionals Trained Outside Kenya

Foreign-trained physiotherapists must show proof of qualifications and competence equivalent to Kenyan standards.
