Airports Sacco Membership Eligibility & Requirements

Airports Sacco is a savings and credit cooperative society formed on March 25, 1994, to provide enhanced financial services to its members. Officially registered on November 11, 1994, the Sacco has since grown significantly and remains a trusted institution for members associated with Kenya’s airports.


Membership Eligibility

Airports Sacco draws its membership from:

  1. Employees of Kenya Airports Authority.
  2. Individuals and organizations working within and around the country’s airports.

Membership Requirements

To become a member of Airports Sacco, applicants must:

  1. Pay an entrance fee of Kshs 2,500.
  2. Purchase a minimum of 250 shares at Kshs 20 each (or as set by the general meeting).
  3. Register their membership:
    • The member’s name will be entered into the membership register.
    • A membership number will be issued.
  4. Sign the register:
    • The member must sign or make a thumb mark in the register in the presence of two board members, indicating their acceptance of the society’s by-laws.
  5. Pay for a copy of the society’s by-laws at its actual cost.
  6. Membership is approved by the management board, subject to confirmation during the next general meeting.

Rights of Members

Members are entitled to:

  1. Participate in decision-making during general meetings, including the right to vote.
  2. Be elected to the Sacco’s organs, per the by-laws.
  3. Access Sacco facilities and services, as provided by the by-laws.
  4. Obtain legitimate information about the society, such as:
    • Internal regulations.
    • Membership registers.
    • Minutes of general meetings and reports.
    • Annual accounts and inventories.
