Chuna Sacco Membership Eligibility & Requirements

Chuna Sacco, a SASRA-registered Sacco established in 1976, aims to mobilize savings and provide affordable financial services to promote the socio-economic welfare of its members. With an asset base of Kshs 2.01 billion, Chuna Sacco offers tailored financial products and services through both BOSA and FOSA.


Membership Eligibility

A person is eligible for membership if they meet the following qualifications:

  1. Are part of the common bond, including:
    • Employees or ex-employees of the University of Nairobi.
    • Employees or ex-employees of Chuna Sacco.
  2. Are at least 18 years of age.
  3. Exhibit good character.
  4. Reside in or occupy land within the society’s area of operation.
  5. Are not a member of another Sacco.

Membership Requirements

To join Chuna Sacco:

  1. Complete an “Application for Membership Form”:
    • Forms can be obtained from the Sacco’s office or website.
  2. Approval Process:
    • Admission is subject to a majority vote by the management committee.
  3. Pay the Entrance Fee:
    • Kshs 500 is required as a non-refundable entrance fee.
  4. Minimum Contributions:
    • Acquire a passbook and contribute shares continuously for at least 6 months.
    • Minimum monthly share contribution: Kshs 2,000.
  5. Nomination of Beneficiary:
    • Nominate a person to whom your shares, deposits, or interests will be transferred in case of death.
    • The nomination must:
      • Be written and signed by the member.
      • Be attested by two witnesses.
