Bandari Sacco, established in 1975, is a deposit-taking savings and credit cooperative society. Initially created to serve employees of Kenya Ports Authority, Kenya Ferry Services, and Kenya Maritime Authority, the Sacco has expanded its membership to individuals from all sectors. With an asset base of over Ksh 12.01 billion and more than 16,000 members, Bandari Sacco is one of Kenya’s largest deposit-taking SACCOs.

Loan Eligibility General Requirements:
- Must have saved consistently for at least six months.
- Fully paid-up membership with the required minimum share capital.
- Loans are determined based on repayment ability per financial statements.
- Biashara Personal Loan
- For members with small-to-medium registered legal businesses.
- BOSA One-Month Loan
- Advance against long-term loans.
- Repayment: One month.
- Emergency Loan
- Covers urgent needs like hospitalization, natural disasters, and more.
- Asset Finance
- Assists members in acquiring assets such as land, motor vehicles, and machinery.
- FOSA One-Month Loan
- Recovered from a member’s monthly salary.
- FOSA Advanced 12 Months Loan
- Recoverable in 12 months based on FOSA deposits and salary.
- FOSA Advanced 6 Months Loan
- Recovered within six months from salary.
- FOSA Consumer Loan
- Finances acquisition of products or services from credible suppliers.
- FOSA Development Loan
- Recoverable in 24 months, pegged on FOSA deposits, savings, and salary.
- FOSA Hybrid Loan
- Recovered within three months from salary.
- FOSA Special Loan
- Exclusive to FOSA members, recoverable in 48 months.
- Microfinance Loan
- Supports small and medium enterprises.
- Normal Loan
- For improving living standards through projects like land purchases or building houses.
- Nyangumi Loan
- Long-term development loan for employees with Ksh 1 million or more in non-withdrawable deposits.
- School Fees Loan
- Short-term financing for education needs.
- Welfare Group Loan
- Targets registered groups engaging in income-generating projects.
b) Savings Products
- DAU Junior Savings Account
- Cultivates saving habits in children with features like a piggy bank, quarterly withdrawals, and birthday perks.
- Personal Savings Account
- Minimum opening balance: Ksh 1,000
- No maintenance fees, interest earned at attractive rates, and access to VISA ATM cards.
- Holiday Savings Account
- Monthly contribution: Ksh 2,000
- Withdrawals allowed once a year with credit facilities.
- Landlord Account
- Minimum opening balance: Ksh 5,000
- Tracks rental income and provides loan access for repairs or property development.
- Fixed Deposit Account
- Negotiable interest rates (5%-10%) with flexible renewals and security for loans.
- Chama Savings Account
- For formally registered groups with a minimum monthly contribution of Ksh 5,000.
c) Share Capital
Shares represent a member’s stake in Bandari Sacco, earning high returns via annual dividends. The current fully paid-up share value is Ksh 30,500.
