List of Tembo Sacco Products and Branches

Tembo Sacco, established in 1972, is a deposit-taking Sacco initially formed to serve East African Breweries Limited employees. Over the years, the Sacco has expanded its membership to include individuals from various sectors. With an asset base exceeding Ksh 4.91 billion and over 4,000 members, Tembo Sacco offers a range of financial services to support its members’ financial growth.


List of Tembo Sacco Products

A. Back Office Savings Activities (BOSA)

  1. Share Capital
    • Represents member ownership in the Sacco.
    • Minimum contribution: Ksh 20,000 (1000 shares at Ksh 20 each).
    • Non-withdrawable but transferrable.
  2. Deposits Contribution
    • Refundable upon prior notice (60 days).
    • Minimum monthly contribution: Ksh 1,000.
    • Acts as a multiplier for loan applications.
    • Annual interest: Up to 11.5%.
  3. BOSA Special Savings
    • Designed for long-term plans like holidays, school fees, and weddings.
    • Minimum monthly contribution: Ksh 500.
    • Annual interest: 10%, payable semi-annually.
    • Withdrawal: Once a year with 30 days’ notice.
  4. Benevolent Fund
    • Covers members and immediate family members against death.
    • Mandatory Share Capital requirement: Ksh 20,000.

B. BOSA Credit Products

  1. Long-Term Loans
    • Jumbo Plus Loan:
      • For permanent employees with salary channeled through Tembo Sacco.
      • Loan multiplier: 5 times savings.
      • Interest rate: 1.25% p.m.
      • Repayment period: 84 months.
    • Jumbo Loan:
      • Loan multiplier: 4 times savings.
      • Repayment period: 60 months.
      • Interest rate: 1.25% p.m.
    • Normal Loan:
      • Loan multiplier: 3 times deposits.
      • Interest rate: 1% p.m.
      • Repayment period: 48 months.
  2. Medium-Term Loans
    • Jisort Loan:
      • Maximum: Ksh 500,000.
      • Interest rate: 3% p.m.
      • Repayment period: 24 months.
    • Jijenge Loan:
      • Maximum: Ksh 1,000,000.
      • Interest rate: 1.5% p.m.
      • Repayment period: 36 months.
    • Car Loan:
      • Maximum: Ksh 2,000,000.
      • Interest rate: 1.5% p.m.
      • Repayment period: 36 months.
  3. Short-Term Loans
    • Jienjoy Loan:
      • Maximum: Ksh 100,000.
      • Interest rate: 12% p.m.
      • Repayment period: 1 month.
    • Emergency Loan:
      • Maximum: Ksh 200,000.
      • Interest rate: 1% p.m.
      • Repayment period: 12 months.
    • Express Loan:
      • Maximum: Ksh 200,000.
      • Interest rate: 5% p.m.
      • Repayment period: 12 months.
    • M-Tembo Loan:
      • Instant loan via mobile platform.
      • Interest rate: 6% p.m.
      • Repayment period: 1 month.

C. Front Office Services Activities (FOSA)

  1. Savings Account
    • Minimum balance: Ksh 1,000.
    • No restrictions on deposits and withdrawals.
  2. Salary Account
    • Minimum balance: Ksh 100.
    • Linked with mobile and ATM services.
  3. Hekima Account
    • Withdrawals: Up to 3 times a year.
    • Interest: 10% p.a.
    • Minimum balance: Ksh 1,000.
  4. Fixed Deposit Account
    • Minimum amount: Ksh 50,000.
    • Interest rates negotiable based on market conditions.
  5. Banking Facilities
    • Services include standing orders, ATM cards, cheque clearing, EFTs, and Paybill services.
