On November 5, 2024, Qatari citizens aged 18 and older went to polling stations to vote in a referendum on proposed constitutional amendments for the 2024 revision of Qatar’s permanent constitution.
On October 29, H.H. the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani issued Decree No. (87) of 2024, inviting all citizens of voting age to participate in the referendum.
The referendum follows the issuance of Decree No. 87 of 2024, symbolizing the strong bond between Qatar’s citizens and their leadership. It underscores a deep commitment to national unity, social cohesion, and the preservation of cherished values and enduring national principles.
Voting Process
Voting began at 7 am and will continue until 7 pm, with two methods available for participation.

The first option allows citizens to vote in person at designated polling stations, either via paper ballot or electronically, by showing a Qatari ID or digital Qatar ID.
The second option allows voters to cast their ballots remotely through the Metrash2 application, available for use both within Qatar and internationally.

Expected Results
The General Referendum Committee has confirmed that votes will be counted and results announced within 24 hours of the referendum’s close.
Since its introduction, the proposed constitutional amendments have received widespread support across Qatar’s population. This is reflected in the collaborative efforts between the legislative and executive branches, which worked together from the submission of the draft to the Shura Council through to its unanimous approval.
