Kitui Teachers Sacco Membership Eligibility & Requirements

Kitui Teachers Sacco, established in 1976, aims to provide its members with a platform to save and borrow funds. Originally limited to teachers, the Sacco expanded its membership bond in 2008 to include employees from various government ministries and organisations. With over 20,000 active members and an asset base of Kshs 8.82 billion, it remains a leading financial institution in Kitui County.


Membership Eligibility

Kitui Teachers Sacco membership is open to all individuals meeting the following criteria:

  1. Age Requirement: Must be over 18 years of age.
  2. Professionals:
    • Teachers and TSC employees.
    • Civil servants and other salaried employees.
  3. Business Community: Entrepreneurs are also eligible.
  4. Spouse or Child: Spouses and children (aged 18 and above) of existing members.

Membership Requirements

Individual Membership

  • Must be at least 18 years old and have an income.
  • Fill out the membership application form (available on the Sacco’s website).
  • Attach the following documents:
    • Copy of Kenyan National ID or valid passport.
    • One coloured passport-sized photograph.
  • Pay the following fees:
    • Entrance fee: Kshs 1,000.
    • FOSA account opening: Free.
    • Minimum share capital: Kshs 10,000.

Group Membership

  • Fill out the group membership application form (available on the Sacco’s website).
  • Attach the following:
    • Minutes of the group’s meeting resolving to join the Sacco.
    • Copies of IDs, passports, and photos of authorised signatories.
    • Group registration certificate.

  • Hold more than two loans concurrently, subject to repayment ability.

Membership Withdrawal

Membership withdrawal is voluntary and follows this process:

  1. Submit a written and signed letter along with filled withdrawal forms (available at Sacco offices).
  2. Clear all liabilities with the Sacco.
  3. The withdrawal process takes 30 days after acknowledgment of the request.
