Elimu Sacco Membership Eligibility & Requirements

Elimu Sacco, established in 1972, is one of Kenya’s leading Saccos, formed by employees from the Ministry of Education. It provides financial services to a broad spectrum of members across different sectors.

Membership Eligibility

The Sacco draws its membership from the following categories:

1. Ministry of Education and TSC Employees
2. Employees of Various Government Ministries and Parastatals
3. Employees of Educational Institutions
4. NGO Employees
5. Self-Employed Individuals

How to Join Elimu Sacco

1. Application Form: Download the membership application form from the Sacco’s website.
2. Submit Documents: Visit the nearest Elimu Sacco branch with:
   • A copy of your National ID.
   • Two coloured passport-sized photos.
   • A filled membership application form.
3. Payments:
   • One-time membership fee: Kshs 400.
   • Monthly deposit: Minimum Kshs 1,750.

Elimu Sacco Products

(a) BOSA Products

1. Instant Development Loan
   • Repayment period: 36 months.
   • Amount: Up to 3 times member’s deposits (less outstanding loans).
2. College Fees Loans
   • Repayment period: 24 months.
   • Amount: Up to 3 times member’s deposits (less outstanding loans).
3. Emergency Loan
   • Repayment period: 12 months.
   • Disbursed within 24 hours.
4. Elimu New Vision Loan
   • Amount: Up to 4 times deposits (less outstanding loans).
   • Repayment: 72 months.
   • Interest: 1.375% per month.
5. Ji-Connect Loan
   • Purpose: To purchase mobile phones and gadgets.
   • Repayment: 12 months.
6. Super Loan
   • Target: Members with sufficient deposits or repayment ability.
   • Repayment: 36 months.
7. G Patie Tank Loan
   • Repayment: 12 months.
   • Interest: 13% per annum.
8. Development Loan
   • Repayment period: 48 months.
9. Premier Development Loan
   • Repayment period: 30 months.
10. School Fees Loan

• Repayable within the school calendar year.

11. Elimu Benevolent Fund

• Mandatory contribution:
  • Kshs 75/month (individual members).
  • Kshs 75/month (spouses).
  • Kshs 50/month (children under 18 years).

12. Loan Risk Fund

• Contribution: Kshs 100/month (mandatory).

(b) FOSA Products

1. Easter Mobile Loan
   • Amount: Kshs 12,000 (2 months).
   • Interest: 4% per month (deducted upfront).
2. Mobile Friday Loan
   • Eligibility: Salary processed through FOSA for 3 months.
   • Maximum loan: 90% of net salary.
3. Investment Mobile Loan
   • Amount: Kshs 14,000 (3 months).
   • Interest: 4% per month (deducted upfront).
4. Mobile Instant Loan
   • Eligibility: Minimum Kshs 10,000 BOSA deposit.
   • Repayment: 1 month.
   • Maximum loan: Kshs 10,000.
5. Mobile Salary in Advance
   • Maximum loan: 90% of net salary.
