Ardhi Sacco, established on 5th October 1971, is a deposit-taking Sacco with an asset base of Kshs 2.31 billion, making it one of the largest in Kenya. Initially formed for employees of the Ministry of Lands and Settlement, the Sacco has expanded its membership to include a diverse range of individuals and groups.
Membership Eligibility
Membership is open to:
- Past and present employees of all government ministries and institutions.
- Employees of organisations registered in Kenya, capable of making regular contributions and fulfilling loan repayment requirements.
- Approved business entrepreneurs and institutions.
- Non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
- Kenyans in the diaspora.
- University staff and students.
- Groups and chamas.
Membership Requirements
To become a member of Ardhi Sacco, you need to:
- Fill a membership application form (available on the Sacco’s website or at its office).
- Pay a non-refundable membership fee of Kshs 1,000.
- Contribute a minimum of Kshs 2,500 monthly.
- Pay a sinking fund fee of Kshs 300, divided as:
- Kshs 150 for the sinking fund.
- Kshs 150 for the institutional ratio deficit.
- Provide:
- Two recent passport-sized photographs.
- A copy of your National ID.
- Your KRA PIN.
Membership Rights
As a member, you have the right to:
- Participate in Decision Making:
- Attend and vote in general meetings.
- Influence key decisions about the society.
- Eligibility for Election:
- Be elected to any of the society’s organs, subject to the Sacco’s by-laws.
- Access to Facilities and Services:
- Enjoy all financial and support services offered by the society.
- Information Access:
- Obtain legitimate information such as regulations, registers, minutes of meetings, annual accounts, and inventories from the society’s registered office.
