Tai Sacco Membership Eligibility & Requirements

Tai Sacco is a renowned deposit-taking Sacco that was established in 1992 under the name Kiambu Tea Growers Sacco. The Sacco has grown significantly, with an asset base of Kshs 4.11 billion, and now serves diverse members across various sectors. It rebranded to Tai Sacco Society Limited in 2009 to reflect its expanding membership base.


Membership Eligibility

Tai Sacco membership is open to the following categories:

  • Tea Farmers
  • Civil Servants
  • Dairy Farmers
  • Coffee Farmers
  • Horticulture and Floriculture Farmers
  • Business Community
  • Transport Industry

Membership Requirements

1. Individual Membership

  • Complete the membership application form (available on the Sacco’s website).
  • Provide a copy of National ID or valid Kenyan passport.
  • Attach a colored passport-size photograph.
  • Provide a copy of KRA PIN.
  • Pay a registration fee of Kshs 500.
  • Contribute a share capital of Kshs 1,000.

2. Joint Membership

  • Complete the membership application form.
  • Provide copies of National ID or valid Kenyan passport for both applicants.
  • Attach colored passport-size photographs for both applicants.
  • Provide a copy of KRA PIN.
  • Pay a registration fee of Kshs 500.
  • Contribute a share capital of Kshs 1,000.

3. Group Membership (Corporates, Chamas, and Self-Help Groups)

  • Complete the group membership application form.
  • Attach the group’s minutes resolving to join Tai Sacco.
  • Provide the group’s constitution.
  • Submit copies of IDs, passports, or photos of authorized signatories.
  • Attach the group’s registration certificate.
  • Provide a KRA PIN (where applicable).
  • Pay a registration fee of Kshs 500.
  • Contribute a share capital of Kshs 1,000.

Mandatory Accounts Upon Registration

After successful membership registration, three mandatory accounts are created:

  1. Savings Account
  2. Share Capital Account
  3. Non-Withdrawable Savings Account (used as a multiplier account for loans).
