Fortune Sacco, formerly Kirinyaga District Farmers Sacco Society, was established on May 1, 1998, following the transformation of the Kirinyaga District Co-operative Union banking sector into an autonomous Sacco. In 2008, it rebranded to Fortune Sacco and has since grown to over 125,000 members, with an asset base exceeding Kshs 5.56 billion.
Membership Eligibility
Any Kenyan citizen can join Fortune Sacco as:
- An individual.
- A business entity.
- An investment group.
- A company.
Membership Requirements
To join the Sacco, you need:
- A copy of your National ID.
- An entrance fee of Kshs 100.
- Purchase 10 shares, each worth Kshs 100 (total Kshs 1,000).
- A passport-size photograph, taken at the branch.
How to Join
You can become a member by:
- Visiting any Fortune Sacco branch to fill out a membership application form.
- Downloading the form from the Sacco’s website and submitting it to a branch.
Eligibility Requirements for Membership

- You are at least 18 years old, if a natural person.
- You are not directly involved in money lending or activities detrimental to the Sacco’s objectives.
- You are of good character.
- You are introduced by an existing member.
- You have regular income from employment, business, or trade.
- You have paid the required entrance fee and minimum shares.
- You understand the Sacco’s objectives, obligations, and membership requirements.
