The Kenya Police Service (KPS) is one of the three branches of the National Police Service (NPS), alongside the Administration Police Service (APS) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

2. Functions of the Kenya Police Service
The Kenya Police Service (KPS) is primarily responsible for law enforcement, crime prevention, and public safety.
(a) Public Safety and Law Enforcement
- Providing assistance to the public in times of need.
- Maintaining law and order across the country.
- Preserving peace and preventing public disturbances.
- Protecting life and property by responding to emergencies and ensuring public safety.
- Investigating crimes and ensuring offenders face justice.
- Collecting criminal intelligence to assist in crime prevention and investigation.
- Preventing and detecting crime by deploying preventive security measures.
- Apprehending offenders and ensuring they are brought before the courts.
- Enforcing all laws and regulations as stipulated in the Constitution and other written laws.
(b) Additional Duties
- Performing any other duties prescribed by the Inspector-General of Police under the National Police Service Act or any other written law.
