Hazina Sacco is a Savings and Credit Co-operative Society established in 1971 under the Co-operative Societies Act (Cap 490) of Kenya. The Sacco is regulated by the Sacco Society Regulatory Authority (SASRA) and focuses on promoting thrift and savings among its members, creating a source of loanable funds. Hazina Sacco offers services through its Back Office Services Activity (BOSA) and Front Office Savings Activity (FOSA).
Membership Eligibility
Hazina Sacco welcomes membership from various sectors, including:
- Public service employees.
- Employees of government ministries and parastatals.
- Employees of Hazina Sacco.
- National and county government employees.
- Employees of private organisations and parastatals.
- Private individual members.
- Chamas and corporates.
Membership Requirements
(a) Individual Membership
To join as an individual, you must:
- Complete a membership application form (downloadable from the Sacco’s website).
- Provide the following documents:
- A copy of your National ID.
- A passport-size photograph.
- Correct payslip for members contributing through a check-off system.
- A filled nominee form.
- Payment Requirements:
- Pay an entrance fee of Kshs 1,000.
- Make a minimum monthly contribution of Kshs 1,000 or 5% of your basic salary, whichever is higher.
- Contribute Kshs 200 monthly to the welfare fund (covers death of principal member, spouse, two children per year, and biological parents).
- Take up a minimum share capital of Kshs 16,000 within the first 12 months of membership.
- Contribute Kshs 1,000 annually after meeting the initial share capital requirement.
(b) Group Membership
Groups must be registered with the Registrar of Societies and meet the following criteria:
- The registration certificate must have a current stamp from social services.
- All group members must be Kenyan citizens aged 18 years and above.
Group Membership Requirements:
- Complete the group membership application form and attach:
- Entrance fee of Kshs 3,000.
- Minimum monthly deposit contribution of Kshs 5,000.
- Minutes listing all members with their signatures, authorising the officials to join the Sacco.
- A copy of the group’s constitution.
- A copy of the group’s registration certificate.
- Copies of National IDs for group officials and members.
- Passport photographs of group officials.
- KRA PINs for each group official.
- Home addresses for each group member.
- The group must designate 4 signatories to the account (3 officials and 1 group member).
