The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) is responsible for reviewing and determining the salaries and benefits of Members of Parliament (MPs) in Kenya. Article 230(4)(a) of the Constitution of Kenya grants SRC the authority to set remuneration for state officers at both national and county government levels.
The Third Remuneration and Benefits Review Cycle (covering financial years 2021/2022 to 2024/2025) outlines the current salary structure for Members of Parliament.
Salary Structure for Members of Parliament
The salary of an MP depends on their role, with different pay scales for:
- Leader of the Majority Party
- Leader of the Minority Party
- Regular Member of Parliament (National Assembly/Senate)
SRC has frozen salary increases for state officers in FY 2024/2025, meaning the 2023/2024 salaries will continue to apply.
