Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan has reaffirmed that the values of tolerance and human fraternity remain central to the vision of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed. He said these principles guide national progress and shape daily interactions across the country. According to him, peaceful coexistence grows stronger when people recognise shared responsibility and take part in community life with respect and fairness.
Tolerance as a Core National Identity
Marking the International Day for Tolerance, Sheikh Nahyan noted that tolerance in the UAE does not remove differences. Instead, it embraces them to create a stable future for all communities. Because more than 200 nationalities live in the country, he said the UAE’s approach has become a global model for harmony. He added that this diversity contributes to social strength, cultural exchange and national unity.
Role of Leadership in Promoting Coexistence
Sheikh Nahyan highlighted that President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed continues to support policies that protect freedom of belief and human rights. These efforts ensure that the UAE maintains an inclusive environment. The nation’s leadership, he said, fosters a culture where cooperation and mutual respect remain essential to development and social wellbeing.
Ministry Efforts to Promote Inclusion
The Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence works across multiple sectors to strengthen awareness and reduce extremism. Its initiatives focus on education, community engagement and partnerships with international organisations. Leading programmes include Knights of Tolerance, Tolerance Clubs in schools and universities, and World Governments as Incubators for Tolerance. These initiatives support a society that values openness and welcomes residents from all backgrounds.
National and Global Initiatives
Sheikh Nahyan also cited Gardens of Tolerance and the Global Tolerance Alliance as key examples of the UAE’s commitment to peace and mutual understanding. These efforts encourage dialogue and create platforms where different cultures can interact constructively. Because they highlight shared values, they help foster a safe and cooperative future.
Foundation Built on Rule of Law
He stressed that the UAE’s approach begins with the rule of law. This ensures fairness, security and dignity for all residents. The legal framework, he said, supports stability and gives families confidence to build their lives in the country. Schools for expatriate communities preserve languages and traditions while helping students understand local values of respect and compassion.
Commitment to a Harmonious Future
Sheikh Nahyan concluded that the UAE will continue strengthening its mission of coexistence, generosity and respect. The ministry remains committed to developing initiatives that reflect the nation’s humanitarian leadership. Through cooperation and inclusive policies, he said the UAE will keep promoting tolerance as a foundation for peace, security and prosperity.
